Down in the Valley

Out of all the versions of this song and discussions, the thing that stood out the most to me was a video of Andy Griffith and a woman singing as a duo "Down in the Valley." I was able to visually see a sort of emotion through their faces as they sang the song.

There's this word in spanish, "clavado," that one would say if they are deeply in love with or interested in a person. It's a very strong emotion and Down in the Valley resonates with that. I interpreted a sort of deepness to the valley in conjunction with the deepness of someones love.

The drawing I made highlights the depth of the valley being colorful as opposed to the actual valley itself being more banal.

19.

This drawing depicts the tenderness and almost fear of my father when I was born. He raised me since I was 6 months old and always used to sing to me a Spanish lullaby until I was a toddler. I wonder if it'd be the same if I had heard the song in a softer female voice growing up as opposed to a deeper, rougher male voice. Either way, it was soothing and comforting.
